About

Susan Hoffer is known for her meticulous figurative paintings that combine her love of Dutch genre painting with contemporary practice and commentary. Hoffer’s work is included in public and private collections, including the permanent collections of the Albany Institute of History and Art, Albany, NY, and the Adirondack Experience Museum, Blue Mountain Lake, NY. She has received prizes and awards for her work with solo exhibitions throughout New York State.
In an essay about her work, Nancy Kay Turner, wrote, “Rarely has an artist painted ordinary people in their own work or home spaces while highlighting their private sentiments as Hoffer has done.” She was recently awarded a Sam and Adele Golden Foundation Residency and a New York State Council for the Arts Support for Artists grant.
